What Is Variable Resistance Training?

Variable resistance training is a type of strength training where the force changes through the entire range of motion, also known as VRT. VRT alters the resistance to follow the increases and decreases in a muscle’s force capacity as it moves through the range of motion. 

VRT benefits workouts by compelling muscles to work harder at their strongest point and meet the demand of the exercise. This helps deliver the appropriate peak force throughout all ranges offering a better muscular response.

In contrast to standard weight training, VRT offers constant or static resistance. The resistance against your muscles doesn’t change throughout all movement phases.

Using variable resistance training, we can simulate the muscle in all ranges and focus on stimulating our weakest ranges.
